As part of a new State law, SB 1383, that requires organic material to move out of landfill and into composting, energy, or other uses, Burbank has started an organics waste collection program. Organics now will go in the green cart on top of your yard trimmings for composting for curbside residents. More information here.
To help residents shift to organics collection, the City of Burbank Recycling Center is giving away free food waste buckets. Pick up a bucket at the Recycling center or at one of these upcoming events.

This free Burbank Fire Dept. community wildfire preparedness training is designed to teach residents how to reduce the risk of wildfire ignition at the individual property level. Attendees will also learn how to conduct Wildfire Home Evaluations. This is a three part class on July 15th and 16th. More information here.
Burbank will be voting on several offices on November 8th: City Council (3 seats), City Clerk, City Treasurer, School Board (2 seats). Applications to run for the city offices begins July 18th. School Board elections are run by the county. The county application process begins July 13th.
